A month after the Queen’s death, Buckingham palace announced that the new king's coronation will be held on the 5th of May next year and the service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury at Westminster Abbey where by King Charles will be crowded along side his wife, Queen Camila, which is also the birth date of his grandson, Archie Mountbatten Windsor, the son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This has stirred conflict between the young couple’s supporters and the king’s supporters as it has been viewed as contemptuous of the king to do.
It has been speculated that the king has set his coronation for that specific date with the intentional hope that Prince Harry and his family may be unable to attend the coronation since they are to have a function of their own which is to celebrate the 4th birthday of their first son, Archie. The king has in some ways come out as vindictive, and vengeful toward the couple. "Does he want to overshadow his own grandson’s birthday or is he to say that he was unaware of his grandson’s birthday and so was his entire household and government?” These are questions being put across to king Charles.
On the other hand, king Charles’ supporters defend him by saying that that is the best date that would fit the very well-known ambiguity of the coronation, besides the 5th of May is also the anniversary of the coronation of King Charles’ great grandfather, King George the v’s ascension to the throne and it would mean a lot to him if his coronation would be held on that exact date.
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have had nothing to say yet about this decision made by his Royal highness the king and neither has the palace had anything to say about the matter since the announcement of the decision and the world is eagerly waiting to hear from the couple and palace’s reaction to the couple's behavior. It’s been back and forth for the two teams since King Charles became king and the world can’t wait to see how the bug family drama unfolds. What do you think?
