Welcome Madam President!

Droupadi Murmu, President of India

The newly elected President of India Droupadi Murmu is a pleasant surprise to India. She is going to serve as the 15th President of India from 25 July 2022. She is also a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She is the first person belonging to the indigenous, scheduled tribe community to be elected as the President of India. She is also the youngest person ever elected to this coveted post. As quoted by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is a watershed moment in the history of independent India. Placing a candidate from the marginalized community, Modi not only silenced the opposition, he simply dismantled the idea of united opposition even before its formation. Secondly, the party repeatedly and unjustifiably touted as ‘Right wing and upper class party’, BJP continuously keeps the tradition of electing the candidates for top-posts from the underprivileged sections of the society. In this regard, instead of giving any kind of useless ‘lip service’ like the loud-mouthed DMK party, the ruling BJP had demonstrated what social justice is all about. Though it is a ceremonial post, still, the President can play a productive role in safeguarding democracy, freedom of speech and bringing prosperity to the nation. We hope, the shrewd and steadfast newly elected President of India will do that during her tenure at Raisina Hill.
