The Republic of Botswana has been one country doing exceptionally well in curbing the spread of the deadly Corona Virus pandemic that has had the world hard hit from its hilariously unrelenting infection rates, death tolls and a total shut in international trade dealing.
Through the midst, and right from the point the virus which has been described by medical experts as a “Novel” diseases started spreading across countries to infect the whole world, the African Republic as a few other nations has its fair share of cases from overseas and neighbouring countries which the front liners and the government are making sure to tackle remarkably well not to spread locally amongst the citizens.
As well excellent infection tracing systems were formulated to enable medical teams to easily trace infections and people who may be spreading the highly infectious disease.
But however, just when we thought the nation is escaping very well the tormenting sight of mass graves, harrowing fevers and insanely unrelenting infections, it appears not only is the nation’s tourism industry enduring losses on the novel viral disease but as well the fraternity seem to have suffered a silent pandemic which is ferociously savaging away the elephant population in tranquil.
Some clusters of deceased elephants have been reportedly found in the Okavango region, an area popularly known for its beautiful tourist attractions and one of the biggest elephant habitats in the country.
According to CNN News media, a staggering toll of “more than 360 elephants” have been recently found to have been dying in the past three months.
The saddening occurrence comes as a mysterious circumstance to local Conservationists and couldn’t sit well with science experts that it has been considered a big "Conservation Disaster".
Around waterholes, Conservationist and researchers we met with harrowing a deeply harrowing sight of deceased elephant carcasses and some looking to be unsteady struggling from agonising complications.
“Live elephants seen nearby appeared physically weak, commented locals and observers who reported also that all age groups and sexes are all involved in the large scale pass of the animals.
“One was walking in circles, unable to change direction,” added observers who in the present moment are still sceptical of the situation prevailing on to the following weeks ahead.
In a slide show video provided through YouTube by downtoearth.org, the animals are seen lying flat on the ground with vultures and other scavenging animals feasting on the decomposing carcass.
Concerned Conservationists appear to have taken some aerial video footage in an attempt to identify very well the clusters which were reportedly found scattered all over the region and some around waterholes.
In another video obtained from Kini TV by the daily motion the animals appear lying dead bulging on the ground showing exactly the decaying process had just started while others looking to have long fallen to the ground.
The saddening scourge has come as a night mare to the country as experts and scientist have been left baffled the mysterious deaths because after all its been only the big bodied animals which are giving the impression a deadly spell has taken hold.
however it was reportedly also that the government has already taken steps involving the taking of samples for research which in the end should help determine some of the possible causes of the spell which has taken hold of the animals since the months of May and possibly April.
