Editorial : 29000 acre land misused and 2 lakh crore rupees fraud discovered
The ruling BJP government tabled the Karnataka Minorities Commission 2012 report that reveals 29000 acres of land out of 54000 acres land belongs to the Karnataka Waqf Land was neither used to help poor Muslims. One of the criteria of hospital for the poor was never built. And these lands used for commercial interest. So many high profile congress party members, including Mallikarjuna Kharge, a known Congress heavy weight and a former Central Minister.
The densely detailed 7000-page report says that the commercial use of the land allotted to the various people reportedly it cost a whopping 2 lakh crores to the Karnataka Waqf Board, is certainly worrisome. It broke the dubious record of 1.70 lakh crore 2G spectrum scam ! It clearly shows the blatant misuse of public property. The same manner, lots of illegal grabbing of lands belongs to various temples happened during the 53-years of Dravidian party rule in Tamil Nadu. Particularly, the DMK party is a big culprit in this regard. It’s a right time for the central Government to constitute a supervisory body (an independent authority) to audit, monitor and guide the land related matters, particularly the land belongs to the religious institutions. Otherwise, a few power-hungry politicians will end-up in looting everything like the way they did in Karnataka Waqf Board Land scam. Based on the Karnataka Minorities Commission report, the state and Central Government should initiate the appropriate legal action and nab the culprits.
