Editorial: CIA Plot to Kill Julian Assange shows the dirty face of America
Recently, the investigating reporting of Yahoo News created ripples across the world by publishing the American Secret Service Agency CIA’s plan to abduct and murder Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks. The people, who associated with media and others, were horrified to witness this shortsighted attitude of the American establishment.
Ever since its inception, Wikileaks has always been doing a commendable job of publishing the ‘hidden secrets’ of various Governments, which also includes the US. The Wikileaks release of diplomatic cables of Iraq and Afghanistan angered the ruling establishments of America. Never before in the history, no other media entity in the US or elsewhere attempted to do what Wikileaks had done. Led by the non-conformist like Julian Assange, Wikileaks had released millions of bloodstained, classified documents. Borrowing from Wikileaks, the well-known mainstream media like The Guardian and ‘The New York Times’ have also published these irksome documents. Apart from punishing the Whistleblower, Chelsea Manning, who actually released these documents, the US Government and its notorious Intelligence Agency – CIA is singled-out Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange to avenge. It clearly shows the deep-rooted, narrow mindset of the American political class and most importantly the rotten state of its Intelligence Unit – CIA.
In the age of ‘Information Explosion’, there is no such thing called ‘secrecy.’ All over the world, the Governments—democratic, authoritarian and communist—and ruling establishments have been fooling the people in the name of national security. If there is something so secret, it is the job of that particular agency, Government to keep it in that manner. As suggested by several eminent people, there is no point simply ‘shooting the messenger.’ Due to the onslaught of technologies, it is impossible for any force on earth to stop the likes of Wikileaks created on top-of the tamper-proof, immutable, censorship-resistant and decentralized domains like Blockchain. In that case, no one can figure out who leaked what and how. So, the US Government and CIA should stop their disgusting acts of suppressing the freedom of speech and free press.
