Travel restrictions between European Union member states should be lifted on June 15, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said on Thursday. However, he added that all decisions on travel from third countries need to be brought on the EU level.
The prime minister also announced that France would be reopening cafes, restaurants and bars as of June 2, but some restrictions will remain in place for those businesses. Additionally, Philippe stated that France will lift its ban on traveling further than 100 kilometers away from one's place of residence within the country.
Speaking to the press, the prime minister noted that as lockdown rules are eased France's Stop COVID-19 app will help trace cases but won't geolocate citizens. He went on to say that the country is now capable of testing anyone who displays COVID-19 symptoms.
