Written and directed by Gary Dauberman in his directorial debut this Warner Bros.’ offering is the 7th instalment in the Conjuring Universe franchise & is a continuation to Annabelle (2014) & Annabelle: Creation (2017).
With a well-knit script, the film entertains for most of the part haunting the viewers sufficiently yet refrains from making tall order statements about Gods & Demons!
The first time filmmaker has in fact spared no efforts to make the movie as scary as possible but unpredictability is certainly not its plus point! For instance, the closet carries a tag, Positively, do not open as the evil-bearing Annabelle has been stocked inside its dark confines; but on expected lines, it gets opened letting loose a series of scary events!
The focus this occasion is on Judy (Mckenna Grace), the 10-year old daughter of Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) & Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) with the doll deciding firmly to feed on their worst fears!
Michael Burgess’ camera angles warrant special mention like the apt & scary score of Joseph Bishara.
Continuously & consistently, the director, in his maiden attempt, has successfully managed to stuff in, enough & more of scary moments most of which are certain to draw the audience to the edge of their seats!
A well crafted & equally well-executed horror thriller with never a dull moment!
Comic relief comes in the form of a nosey neighbour, young Bob Palmeri (Michael Cimino) who gets caught in the crossfire, through inadvertently!
Getting ready to get scared but miss not!
