In Majesty, players will take on the role of a king, whose goal is to create the richest kingdom. For this, the king will need to use his resources correctly and enlist the support of his faithful citizens.
Game preparation
Each player receives the same set of eight cards - these are building cards. They need to be laid out from 1 to 8 cards. Each building has the number of VP at the bottom.
To choose the first player, you need to take special cards of workers, shuffle them and give each player. The one who got the card with a red frame starts the game.
Each player takes and places on the card of workers 5 meeples from the general supply.
The main deck of cards in the game is a deck of citizens. There are 7 types of citizens in the game, each of which corresponds to one type of building. Most cards are with one citizen on it, but there are double cards that depict two citizens. If the player got such a card, he decides which of the workers to choose.
The top 6 cards from the deck of citizens are laid out near the deck - this creates an open market of citizens, where the first card is taken for free, and for each next one players need to pay one more meeple.
Game process
Players are given exactly 12 moves to make their kingdom the richest. On his turn, the player takes one of the 6 citizens from the market and places it under the corresponding building card.
On the first turn, each player has 5 meeples, so he can take any card from the market. The first card in the market (farthest from the deck) is taken for free, and the closest to the deck for 5 meeples.
By placing a citizen in a building card, the player activates this building and receives a reward (coins) for each citizen in that building.
Additional properties
There are several buildings in the game, which have an additional property.
When the player chooses the attack card from the market (red card, with the symbol of the sword), he places it under the barracks building, after which the attack begins.
If the attacking player has more attack citizens than the other players' defenders. If a player has fewer defenders than attackers, then one character in his kingdom goes to the hospital.
Choosing the defender, the player will be protected from the attacks of opponents.
By placing the witch in the Cottage, the player can cure one citizen and return him from the hospital to the building of the appropriate type.
After all players have taken 12 cards from the market, the final scoring begins.
