Monetize your data in the crypto world
In the data-driven world, our personal data is precious commodity. But we are not aware of this fact. Our ignorance is a big business to the Facebook, Google and Amazon kind of data-crunching monolithic enterprises. The person who gives data either knowingly or unknowingly does not have any control over their data. And none of these commercial enterprises cared about us. The advent of Blockchain has created a plethora of opportunities for easier transfer of micro-payments across the globe. In this changed circumstances, the Blockchain project called Streamr developed a wonderful idea to enable the people to ‘sell’ their data, if they want. For this purpose they’ve created an online exchange. In addition, they’ve also created a browser plug-in called ‘Swash'.
The Swash can be integrated with any of the popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or the blockchain based browser like Brave. Once the plug-in is activated, the data is sent to ‘data union’ where the aggregated data will be stored and sold on the 24x7 Streamr marketplace. The data union is a common ‘data storage platform’ of Streamr. The size of the data determines its value. Eventually, the amount received for our data will be sent in the form of crypto to pre-determined crypto wallet.
The Swash plug-in is a boon to the ordinary people. It ensures transparency; generate some passive income to the people, individual privacy is protected and above all it stops the big corporations from mindlessly looting our personal data for their benefits. Let us welcome, the Swash.
