Continuation of the interview with Lucho Poletti, who talks about Satoshi Nakamoto, John McAfee and the future of organizations with the use of blockchain technology.
The American crypto artist Lucho Poletti, who makes use of propaganda techniques to teach about the advantages offered by Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, keeps exploring new ways of developing art to help people understand this new economic paradigm.
In the group of crypto artists we share in Telegram, Lucho said: «My main concerns lie in the tokenized art honestly. Maybe it's naive but my hope is that at some point, a community like we have here will be able to come to a consensus that there is a "best" platform to tokenize artwork and we will all be confident enough to register our art there... Then we all use X platform on X blockchain and work together to make it the go-to spot for tokenized art/crypto art. Or maybe that never happens».
Moreover, the previous interview is now complemented with the following questions (and his answers):
Do you think that the future of organizations will be decentralized, or decentralization is just an impossible utopia?
I think things will be much more decentralized in the future, where the decentralization model makes more sense. Wherever there are non-productive middle men connecting producers with consumers I both hope and expect that decentralization takes over.
On the other hand, there are big seats of power in technology and artificial intelligence that I feel will not only be very reluctant to let decentralization take over their interests, but will be sufficiently self-sustaining in a way that they will likely successfully block decentralized movements from taking over a number of areas they currently dominate.
Satoshi Nakamoto is a very present motif throughout your work. What does that anonymous figure represent to you?
To me, Satoshi most importantly represents a leader-less movement for all who will not stand for corruption. Besides being an anonymus figure, disappearing intentionally and leaving Bitcoin without a leader I feel was critical for the long-term success of the decentralized movement. As Satoshi said himself, Bitcoin is like a hydra - you cut off one head and two heads will pop in to take its place. However not having a head is even better. I can imagine how disastrous the death of Vitalik Buterin can be for Ethereum for example - not good.
The anonymous status of the only known “creator” or “leader” of Bitcoin also makes it clear that it’s a movement supported by “the people” - a decentralized community of people who value freedom and saw the corruption of the banking system and see a better way.
What do you think about John McAfee standing from exile for the presidential election in the United States?
Although McAfee has done a lot of good work for the crypto community and I myself was quite excited about him running for U.S. President, I’ve become a lot more skeptical about the true motives of his actions, to be frank.
In retrospect, I believe McAfee never thought Bitcoin would reach the price of $1,000,000 USD by 2020 nor did he ever think he would get close to winning the 2020 Presidential election, or even have a serious campaign. I think he knows very well how to get publicity and stay relevant and he probably did those things to achieve a higher level of relevance, especially among the cryptocurrency community.
Don’t get me wrong though, I still think John is a great figure to have promoting crypto to the public and appreciate what he does. However I think his actions have had a tendency to mislead his followers.
