As per the latest Boston Consulting Group report ‘Entertainment Goes Online.’ Indian Over-The-Top (OTT) Content Platform market is growing phenomenally in the recent past. In fact, India is the world’s fastest growing OTT market.
The report quotes the Indian OTT market to reach $5 billion in size by 2023. This growth is being driven by rising affluence, increase in penetration of data into rural markets and adoption across demographic segments including women and older generations. This is a first-of-its-kind survey ever conducted about the online content market. It shows the India’s growing Internet connectivity and the raising middleclass and aspirations of the youth. Music, Cricket and Movies are the primary drivers of this growth. There is a huge demand for ‘streaming’ based serials and sitcoms. Using the lockdown as the opportunity, the established players like NETFLIX and Amazon has released on OTT Platform-specific movie releases and got a huge response from the audience across the globe.
