Godzilla 2: Film Review
This is the 35th film in the Godzilla film franchise & is a sequel to Godzilla (2014). Godzilla films usually depict the battle between humans & the monster loaded with a busload of thrills & chills! Well, this too is no exception but we have a new nemesis here, the 3 headed King Ghidorah also known as Monster Zero, who has awakened other Titans to destroy the world. For a change, the human race has to now depend upon Godzilla for the rescue act! With such a suitable theme for action can there be a dearth of it? Be assured of loads of it, rather!
This time, in order to put a check on the advances of Monster Zero, who poses a huge threat to mankind, a group of scientists deliberate, discuss & decide to awaken Godzilla who is their only ray of hope to save mankind from the hands of the other monsters!
Though the screenplay follows a predictable path that which we have witnessed in very many such visual extravaganzas, the presentation of this flick makes all the difference with some breathtaking special effects are truly exhilarating, drawing the viewers to the edge of their seats, most of the watching-time!
Indeed it is an appreciable gesture that the film has been dedicated to executive producer Yoshimitsu Banno & the original Godzilla suit performer Haruo Nakajima both of whom died in 2017!
The film’s USP is the epic-scale stunt sequences staged between the good & the evil monsters.
The arrival scene of Godzilla deserves special mention.
It is nice that the film also makes a statement about the co-existence of humans & monsters as well as maintaining the nature’s balance!
Worth a watch for the spectacular action scenes!
