"Ender's Game" The Book -
Ender's Game is a 1985 military science fiction novel by American author Orson Scott Card. Set at an unspecified date in Earth's future, the novel presents an imperiled mankind after two conflicts with the "buggers", an insectoid alien species. In preparation for an anticipated third invasion, children, including the novel's protagonist, Ender Wiggin, are trained from a very young age through increasingly difficult games including some in zero gravity, where Ender's tactical genius is revealed.
The book originated as the short story "Ender's Game", published in the August 1977 issue of Analog Science Fiction and Fact.
The Movie -
Ender's Game is a 2013 American military science fiction action film based on the novel of the same name by Orson Scott Card. Written and directed by Gavin Hood, the film stars Asa Butterfield as Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, an unusually gifted child who is sent to an advanced military academy in outer space to prepare for a future alien invasion.
In the future, humanity is preparing to launch an attack on the homeworld of an alien race called the Formics who had attacked Earth and killed millions; the Formic invasion was stopped by Mazer Rackham, who crashed his F-35 Lightning II into a Formic queen ship at the apparent cost of his life. Over the course of fifty years, gifted children are trained by the International Fleet to become commanders of a new fleet for this counter-attack.
Call me vain and cynical...because I am - even at 55 years old!
And since I'm "off-season": (meaning: I probably won't be going to the beach for a couple of months), I decided to indulge a bit.
So, today while committing caloric and nutritional suicide via a fried egg, mushroom, bacon, lettuce, tomato, three-cheese, triple patty, 6" burger and a basket of home fries, I pigged out and re-watched one of my favorite movies (for many reasons) called "Ender's Game'.
In other words, "Good-bye Abs. See ya in a few months!"
Anyway, back to the movie.
The main character (Ender) is a highly resourceful and intelligent young man. He's afraid of his inherent ability towards "ending rage" whenever he's threatened.
Here's the "Ender's Game" movie trailer:
I'm so tempted to give you the spoiler ending, but I wont...

About the Author
Believing that school was too boring, he dropped out of High School early; only to earn an AA, BS and MBA in less than 4 years much later in life – while working full-time as a Navy/Marine Corps Medic.
In spite of a fear of heights and deep water, he performed high altitude, free-fall parachute jumps and hazardous diving ops in deep, open ocean water.
After 24 years of active duty, he retired in Asia.
Since then, he's been a full-time, single papa and actively pursuing his varied passions (Writing, Disruptive Technology, Computer Science and Cryptocurrency - plus more hobbies too boring or bizarre for most folk).
He lives on an island paradise with his teenage daughter, longtime girlfriend and three dogs.
