Editorial - The release of ‘DMK files’ and after…
Presumably, the release of ‘DMK files’ - by the TN BJP leader Annamalai sparked a widespread media coverage across India. It contains the 1.34 lakh crores of assets owned by various DMK ministers and leaders. This list does not contain any info about the ‘corrupt money’ list, but only the list of ‘assets’ owned by DMK men. It can be interpreted as ‘ill-gotten wealth.’ And this information is readily available in the public domain. Still, we can find exorbitant amount of wealth accumulated by the prominent DMK functionaries in this list. All the signals indicate that the Modi government has clearly set the trap to the DMK party by exposing these files. A prominent Delhi journalist earlier quoted, the Amit Shah and Annamalai combo is working for this secret mission. However, the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu immediately issued a statement that they’re going to take a legal action against Annamali. Bu the chances for taking a legal action is very slim due to the fact, it will give room for the BJP to release more files.
Thee DMK is not the only party known for corruption in India. The rival political party AIADMK also has a big list of corruptors. So, is the corruption case of Lalu and others in the far away north. All over India, Congress Governments in various states were also engaged in huge scandals. Even the supposedly clean political parties like BJP and Aam Admi also has a fair share of corrupt politicians. Nevertheless, what separates DMK from others, is the way they evade the law. Touted as the first part of the list, probably Annamalai will release the ‘DMK files part 2 or may be more. Overall, the ill-gotten wealth of DMK leaders may exceed 2 Lakh crores ! It is very difficult to decide the amount of ill-gotten wealth due to the smart use of ‘Benamis,’ by the politicians. Most of the DMK leaders and functionaries belongs to a ‘humble origin’ as per their individual statements. But, the reality is different. Still, what is so disturbing is how come the judiciary and election commission or any other central government-controlled investigative agencies can’t do anything about it. How long are they going to watch these kinds of corrupt politicians like a mute spectator? Till that time, we going to see more and more ‘Files’ like this.
