As part of the ongoing lifting of the covid restrictions the sale of tobacco has resumed following its ban in April before lockdown in Botswana.
Botswana was one of the few countries which banned the sale of tobacco and alcohol worldwide,alcohol sale was resumed few weeks back with limited hours and no sit ins apart from liquor resturants.
The black market has had its share of revenue and it thrived undisturbed for months since the ban.There was a rise to illegal tobacco sale and the country missed out on tax.
One of the smokers in one of the local towns Thuo Molefe expressed nothing but happiness as now he said he can smoke his cigarrette freely,be that as it may the govnment said should anyone be seen smoking in public places they will get a fine.
