Black Watch Who?
Until I watched this wonderful documentary, I'd never heard of the Canadian Black Watch Regiment - much less their exploits during WWII.
See this trailer: "Black Watch Snipers Trailer"
The full video (link is at the end of this post) is an emotionally moving account of a team of scouts who performed recon, intel, raiding and most of all, sniper missions in France during WWII.
The accounts of bravery and brotherhood made my eyes water.
And I totally empathize with the soldiers' attitudes about "blocking out doubt and just getting the job done" (during my time it was called "switching on and off").
The Black Watch
The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada is a reserve infantry regiment in 34 Brigade Group, 2nd Canadian Division of the Canadian Army. The regiment is located on Bleury Street in Montreal, Quebec, Canada...

The regiment mobilized the 1st Battalion, The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada, CASF, on 1 September 1939.
This unit, which served in Newfoundland from 22 June to 11 August 1940, embarked for Great Britain on 25 August 1940.
Three platoons took part on the raid on Dieppe on 19 August 1942. On 6 July 1944, the battalion landed in France as part of the 5th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Canadian Infantry Division, and it continued to fight in North West Europe until the end of the war.

I highly recommend this action packed, emotionally charged depiction of a true story.

Believing that school was too boring, he dropped out of High School early; only to earn an AA, BS and MBA in less than 4 years much later in life – while working full-time as a Navy/Marine Corps Medic.
In spite of a fear of heights and deep water, he performed high altitude, free-fall parachute jumps and hazardous diving ops in deep, open ocean water.
After 24 years of active duty, he retired in Asia.
Since then, he's been a full-time, single papa and actively pursuing his varied passions (Writing, Disruptive Technology, Computer Science and Cryptocurrency - plus more hobbies too boring or bizarre for most folk).
He lives on an island paradise with his teenage daughter, long term girlfriend and three dogs.
