Water Wastage in India
When good part of India is deprived of quality water, in some parts of water-abundant India, a huge quantity of water flows into the sea. Last year, in just Krishana-Godavarai alone nearly 3000 tmc of water released into the sea. If we calculate the water wastages of all rivers in India, it will be certainly more than 30000 tmc. That is humungous waste of precious resource. If the Governments (Central and State), there is a possibility of saving 25 to 30%. That is enough for the 1.3 billion population’s daily needs throughout the year. The Government of India should take initiative to stop this big water leak. We need several innovative solutions like check dams and storing water in ponds and lakes. Extensive renovation work to be carried out all over India to store huge water. We hope, the Government will take timely action and start the proceedings soon. Alongside Government, NGOs, local communities can also play a big role to stop the menace.
